The Philadelphia Department of Public Health functions to ensure conditions in which people can lead healthy lives. The mission of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health is to protect and promote the health of all Philadelphians and to provide a safety net for those most at risk. 

Maintaining partnerships with public health professionals, hospitals, academic institutions, community organizations, and people living and working in all of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods enables the Philadelphia Department of Public Health to provide an array of essential services. These services include eight comprehensive health centers, disease control programs, maternal, child, and family health, environmental health, chronic disease prevention, and much more.
